Don't know how old you were during Nam, but clearly you have not matured one whit since then. You are rude, crude and boorish and probably have a few loose screws in the thing sitting on your shoulders. You are simplistic to a fault, "can't have peace without war, can't have love without hate." Really?
Those "hippies" you talk about in such a dismissive manner were instrumental, through their sit-ins, protests, etc., in bringing that awful period in our history to a close.

Dude, You want WW3? For the good of our children? That should be on the mind of people who want all to die, a WW3 will only kill the world. And we are in the Middle East for some bad reasons I admit, but there is Terrorist, watch the news, you always hear about dead soldiers from it. We shouldn't be in there any longer, but it isn't solely on resources. My recommendation to you is pick up a history book that isn't on either side. A Text Book will probably be best...

I did not grow up in the 60's Nor did I fight in Nam but I am a vet. And in my eyes anyone who dodges a draft or intentionally gets kicked out of the military is nothing but a coward and deserves NO respect from me or any other person.

I don't do anything good. I'm just more extreme. I just hate all this bullshit. The entire Vietnam war was for nothing. It took longer then ww2, a real war. Plus the same with Iraq. Why the fuck are they still in the middle east? It's all about who gets the recources. I rather had a ww3 for 5 years and afterwards things would really change. They rob us for all our penny's, i say start a fucking war for the well beeing of our children.

The one that got us into the war in Viet Nam was a President with a brain tumor. Supporting the French plantation owners, back in the 40s or 50s, I forgot which. I agree with you, just thought I would add what I knew about how that one began, in the first place, because so many don't know, no one is being taught well in school these days.

They have that right, you know? Why can't they be what THEY choose? Or is that not a right if it's another nation? (maybe I misunderstand your meaning).

Being against the war was not the same as being against the soldiers. Many of them did not have a choice, especially the poor. They were drafted. So it was 1,2,3,4...off to the war. OR become a criminal by not going to war, usually including leaving America to escape it. You who were not part of the protests, part of the "hippie" movement, have no way to understand the oppression not only of the people of Viet Nam but the people of America. These songs were sung to end it. Eventually, we did.
