@kua514 It's a tradition anytime there is an upset. The Sumo Association is trying to do away with it.

I do not like Hakuho much, so I am very happy about this tournament. He is very skilled, don't get me wrong, however, I find him very cocky and when he loses, he often pulls the other wrestler out with him as he did in this match, I find that very UNsportsman like. Great news for Baruto!

That is a look of pure joy on Baruto's face. Congratulations big guy on this basho!!
-
Wow, I never thought Kotooshu was going to come back that strong. Great match.

@ZaggSan Oddly enough, Hakuho started 2010 with a 12-3 in the January 2010 basho (Asashoryu's last yusho) and then went on to have 4 back-to-back 15-0 zensho yushos and a 14-1 in November, giving him 86 (out of 90) wins for the year. But yeah, it's been 2 years since Hakuho has lost 3 in a tourney, and it's not over yet... He may lose to Baruto on the last day.
What is with the throwing of the cushions? Is that like the caps in hockey when someone gets a "hat trick"?

@kua514 yeah - I think it's a celbratory act for the wrestler that was able to beat the yokozuna. Kinda like throwing your cap in the air when you graduate, or something.

Next question, when will Baruto become Yokozuna?
If he wins this basho with 15 wins then another championship in the near future,
or
wins this basho with 1 loss then win 2 more championships in the future.
He needs to keep up the good record in those bashos he doesn't win.
The promotion may come earlier because the sports needs another Yokozuna to go against lone Yokozuna Hakuho.

@allgoo19 well, the minimum requirement is simply two back-to-back yusho - so if he wins the March basho, I think they will promote him regardless of whether it's a 14-1 or a 15-0. Hakuho won 2 in a row to get promoted to yokozuna, and one of those was a 13-2.

Is this the beginning of the end of Hakuho's dominance? And are we witnessing the rise of a new Yokozuna?

@zwillyc to early to say... read my comment to Zaggsan above before we count Hakuho out just cuz he has a (possible) 12-3 record
