This is a clip from a documentary about the legendary and very cool photographer David Bailey, transmitted by the Swedish TV channel SVT2 over DVB Terrestrial. It has the original English soundtrack with Swedish subtitles. Thankfully, overdubbing is NOT used in this country.
It was recorded by me on an Apple MacBook Pro using the brilliant Elgato EyeTV Hybrid in MPEG-2 format, then exported in H.264/MPEG-4 before the upload. This usually renders good results and is the easiest way to do the job.
If you are the proprietor of the copyright for this material, and have any problem with this being here, just tell me and I will promptly remove it. My only ambition is to show interesting things to other people, not to make money.

  • Do the 4 clips youve posted make up the whole documentary? If not do you by any chance still have a link to the documentary you could post?

  • @gcc420 Yep, that's the whole documentary, and that's all I have. There never existed any link to anything else. And as noted in the info, I recorded it on my Mac from DVB-T using an Elgato EyeTV. Check out the other stuff I have posted!

  • thank you again - we need to see this and remember a little bit of what photography can be about - thanks

  • @orwinstudio I think I know what you are getting at... that photography is so much more that just technical brilliance. Any old monkey can be trained to take technically good photos. But that's not what art is about, not at all... Am I even half-right?

  • Thanks for posting this.. fell across it on tv last night and so pleased I could show it to a friend

  • @wilmingtonlongman You're welcome! I posted 4 clips, and there are several other David Bailey clips on YT.

  • @MowgliX nice one, thanks for putting it up really enjoyed watching it. Peace x

  • well this is true - this guy is smart because he has both but he makes his photography a craft. Photography is safe in his hands and he wrings every little detail out of it." Four beats to the bar - and no cheatin" Magic.

  • @desertshore They asked Bailey if he wanted to play the photographer in Blow-Up, the 1966 film by Michelangelo Antonioni, but he declined since he had problems remembering lines, so the leading part went to David Hemmings. Check it out - very 1960s swinging London. The party they attend in the movie is something like the party Andy, Edie, Chuck and Gerard went to I gather. Interesting film. Oh, and Antonioni died on the very same date as Ingmar Bergman. I entered it myself on Wikipedia.

  • @liluhura He of course photographed the Warholites back in 1965 in the original Silver Factory at 231 East 47th Street, in Midtown Manhattan - Andy Warhol, Gerald Malanga, Chuck Wein and above all the beautiful Edie Sedgwick.
