This is a simple composition using arpeggios, hammering-on and pulling-off to create the melody. The chords are not particularly difficult, but the picking hand needs to keep good time. I've capo'ed up to the 5th fret to give a clear, music-box quality to the sound.

Basic chords:
D / / / D / / / C / / / C / / /
Am / / / D9 / / / G / / / G / / /
(play 4 times)

Em / / / Em / / / Am / / / Am / / /
C / / / C / / / D / / / D / / /

D / / / D / / / C / / / C / / /
Am / / / D9 / / / G / / /G / / /
(play 3 times)

  • Beautiful! Excellent tone.

What sort of amplification are you using Will?

  • I put the Martin through a Line6 Pod - with just a hint of reverb, and the tone controls set more or less central. The Pod is set to "bypass" - i.e., there are no amp simulations. The Martin has a piezo under the bridge and a built-in mic - I have the blend set to 50/50. I use a Roland 8-track digital recorder, with the guitar signal set to just below peak - digital recorders are not tolerant of distortion like analog recorders. :-) Will

  • You've really catched the breeze. Congratulations!

  • I'd like to listen to this and the little wall fountain while I'm out on the patio repotting plants. Summer is actually already here where I am.

  • A Summer's Day...

    Excellent.

  • great
