Some pics with the modding of my Fender Blacktop JAGUAR with Seymour Duncans SH-2 and SH-4. The stocks sounded pretty muddy and loud, there's a big difference between them. I tested also the coil split mod. Less output but nice sound. I kept the Jazz coil split for a Fender sound. I don't have the stock bridge comparison since I decided making this move after the change. But you'll figure out how it sounded by listening to the neck one.
Used Dean Markley 10-52s and the VOX Pathfinder 15R
Sorry for the sloppy playing.
Enjoy!

  • Awesome vid and congrats on a great project! I am considering this guitar too. Would you do a video with a little bit of gain on the new pickups?

  • @jjames2b you just tell me what kind of sounds you want to hear and I'll help you. clean and loud? distortion?

  • @jjames2b Hey dude! There's some dirty sounds from this black beauty. I have tested the neck and the bridge with help from the ProCO Dirty RAT. I Hope it helps you.

  • @ManDeal

Is the dirty rat an older model or a recent one? Regardless, how do you like it?

  • @ChickenFaeces

It's was a new one. I've chosen it because apart the other rats this one was made in the USA. It's pretty harsh with the humbuckers but I like it and use it all the time.

  • you can't compare a bridge pick-up with a neck pick-up.lol

  • Wrong account, still mandeal.

  • @ChickenFaeces

Well...I don't know how to answer this, I'm not into fine settings that much. I just keep the filter knob at low, which means max treble. This is what they say: "Having trouble cutting through the mix? Turn the Filter down and allow the natural brightness of your instrument to shine through".

Playing mostly indoors I didn't have the chance to play with the all the controls.

  • @ManDeal

Does it have decent midrange? Like, can it cut through a band mix pretty well?

  • Damm thats cool. I´m picking up my Fender Blacktop Jaguar in about 2 weeks. I like the work you done on this guitar. Really Great.

  • @ManDeal How about some classic rock overdrive? The clean tones in this video were already perfect. I am considering purchasing a Jaguar Blacktop or Squier VM, but I don't like the sound of either stock pickups, so this video was perfect timing!
