Dean Sabatinelli holds the record for the fastest 1000cc bike in the standing mile @ 245.109mph - Manxton Mile in 2011. Dean, we are waiting for your first 250 on a litre class bike! :)
-
@craigg1981 Bill Warner - 311mph @ Loring - 1.5 miles

@zachkuby87 If built to hell and back... Tl's are weak as fuck top end
-
@craigg1981 you should ride a modern sportbike sometime most will do 100mph in first gear with little effort bone stock. my tl1000r takes less than a mile to top out around 170-180.

@adz930 It was the standing mile. The transmission let go during the pass, and the bike coasted through the finish at over 200mph. It was the first and only pass of the day for the bike, hence the easy launch. The rider, Dean, is an extremely good rider who went over 230mph at Loring's 1.5 mile and just recently went well over 260mph on a Turbo Hayabusa.
To date, there are only 5 people on the planet who belong to the 260mph club on an open wheel motorcycle. Dean is one of them.

@Phantom1287
Correction, Dean went 269+mph at Loring's 1.5 mile. Yes, the guy you're watching in this video went damn near 270mph on a Turbo Busa.. making him the 2nd fastest man ever recorded by a sit-down open wheel motorcycle.

@Phantom1287 269 in a mile and a half..... Gimme a break guys!!! Wheres the video and the slip to prove this?? I've seen some monster bikes but that sounds a little far fetched.... I watched a guy at the salt flats trying to break 250 and the best he got was 230 due to not being able to get traction and stop the bike from getting speed wobbles! Thats also on a 7 mile long straight and took him every bit of 3 miles to get over 200!

@craigg1981
You must not be familiar with Land Speed Racing. This is all common knowledge in the sport. Dean isn't even the fastest at 269mph... Bill Warner went 278mph at The Texas Mile this year, along with 272mph at The Maxton Mile in a light drizzle. I was there and witnessed it all, spoke with Bill before and after... shook his hand and shot the breeze with him and Dean for a little while in the staging lanes.
But don't believe me.... GOOGLE IT.
.... I hope you enjoyed your break.
