Bridge pose calms the brain and helps alleviate stress, anxiety, and mild depression. It strengthens the spine, back, buttocks, legs, and ankles; opens the chest and hips; and can also improve sleep and digestion.
Check with your doctor before doing this pose if you have a neck injury. If you have low back or knee pain, keep your palms pushing into the floor and raise the hips only slightly, so that the spine is in a straight line from the shoulders to the knees.
