I would not rush to buy a WP7 device until they will actually release the update. Also I would like to know if Windows Phone 8 will come to WP7 devices.

No they will not an update with some improvement features to keep your phone more neat maybe because they don't want to kill early adopters like apple does every year but no basically its a 7.8 update with some of the improvements you get from windows 8 phones and only windows 8 phones will get windows 8 for a couple of generations then maybe they might change the way the cycle works so they need to work on some things but no windows 8 for windows 7 devices but you will get an update soon!

Yeah, he actually took back what he said. If you search this on The Verge website it states that ..."existing Windows Phone applications will run on the next version of Windows Phone," and that he "mistakenly confused app compatibility with phone updateability."
