1776 is a Broadway musical with a book by Peter Stone and music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards. It was produced on the Broadway stage in 1969 and made into a film in 1972. The show was nominated for five Tony Awards and won three, including the Tony Award for Best Musical.

1776 was produced by Stuart Ostrow and directed by Peter H. Hunt. The production featured William Daniels as John Adams, Ken Howard as Thomas Jefferson, Howard Da Silva as Benjamin Franklin, Ron Holgate as Richard Henry Lee, and Virginia Vestoff as Abigail Adams.

  • @kathyannerox eh, everyone has their view on how a character should be played as.

  • @TheBoontonBomber i just assumed that he was annoying and disliked because he kept being persistant about breaking away from britain. you can be annoying and disliked without being whiney. but hey, thats his take on the character. i really have no right to judge i suppose.

  • One of my favorites.  This looks like a good production

  • if anyone here really loves this musical then u can audition for it at Genesius Theatre in Reading PA
