This tragedy should give our police authorities a handful of lessons. How can we attract more tourists to come to our country if some of our police officers are torturers and non-respecters of people's rights? How can we attract more foreign investors if some people in the police force and in the government sector are the ones who blatantly violate the law and shamelessly abuse their position? Our police force should save its face by showing that its members are not only good at extortion, torture, or any other illegal activities. The only role of the police is to protect us against criminals.

This bloody incident that resulted in the loss of several lives could have been prevented had the government established a strong rule of law. The hostage-taker should have been jailed for violating the rights of a citizen a couple of years ago. We need a strong rule of law to punish those who abuse their public position and to prevent any similar incident from happening in the future.

If our police force could no longer protect us, then we all have the moral responsibility to arm ourselves.

  • time for a new swat and press out there.

  • @Asetsuna9 no. they were local swat

  • i'm filipino... i'm sorry for the chinese people

  • im not from philipines so slight confusion here. is the SWAT and SAF uniform the same colour? cause all i see is blue as commandos would wear green....

  • for Pnoy to compare the hostage crisis to the massacre in Norway is a gross insult to normal people's intelligence, while the Norway killer implemented a sudden deliberate attack on innocent people, the Mendoza crisis took 11 long hours of stupid negotiation where chances to shoot or grab him where intentionally ignored. Pnoy you're another embarrassment to the intelligence of regular and shamed pinoys who will do a much better job than all of you.

  • The president had admitted responsibility in the first place. I think it is so arrogant for him to say that there should be no apology to the victims. It is sad and shameful. How would you feel if members of your family were among the victims?

  • Foreigners are too judgmental. Backlashing filipino domestic helpers and even the filipino civilians who are not involved in the incident, nor they are SWAT members, in retaliation to the death of its HK fellowmen. Filipinos do not retaliate against China who allows the smuggle and some substandard products dumped into the country...Neither did President Aquino has knowledge of the fact of his 2-month term, and Arroyo is behind with incompetence of Policemen by bribing them than training them.

  • hit the former president aroyo, this is the result of her 9 year reign hahaha

  • shame Philippines government ! shit president !

  • @AKEBONOX25 Only pinoys can send the corrupted what they deserve. Can paying tourists wanting a relaxed vacation do that for YOU ? NO ! It's none of our business. We want to be RESPECTED when we vacation, we want to be SAFE.

    RP offers NEITHER OF THEM.

Don't rely on others to do the revolution for you. Americans tried, and look at the results now : NEVER ending MESS caused by American involvements. Now NPA & MILF & Typhoons & Tsunami & Fires will destroy RP, & US wants use RP to fight China !
