this helped me out a lot. its really hard to ask people to pay you money when your not sure your worth it. I have no formal business training, and I have a company asking me what my rates are and do I charge by the hour. Its all so unnerving.

Thank you so much for these. I'm working with my first client and this is the one thing that I was panicking about.

@hartmachris see, the best thing you can do is, see how much you have spent on the project, like bills etc, See how much time you have spent for the project, and then see your lifestyle and wants. If your clients are good, they will pay you anything, but if they are cheap, then even $50 is too much for them. If you ask me, you should charge between 100 to 250 dollars as thats the usual :)

I am designing a logo(from the ground up, meaning that I am hand designing it) for a new restuarant that is opening in a couple months. They plan on using the design for the front sign, T-shirts, advertising and whatever else. I plan on charging them about fifteen hundred dollars for the right to do whatever they want with the design (including a large watercolor painting of the logo). it is a very labor intensive desing and this is my first time selling my art. Should I charge more or less?

@karutodeyara One thing clients don't really understand about logos, is it a part of their company's branding. 50 dollars for a logo is a steal considering that the standard price for a logo usually depending on the company can start at 400 and if for full branding over 1000 dollars

thank you for these informative videos!

My clients need to hear this... I charged them $50 for a logo and would keep on working until they like it and they already think it's too much.

I am a relatively recent graduate and I have been wanting to start my own company. Any advice on how to do that? How did you do it?

After graduating I spent 7 months working for a small non-profit company as an in-house designer but I want to start my own company. How should I go about it? Your advice on setting an hourly rate was very helpful.

Never worked for a company, I couldn't find a job at the time, so I started my own company, so I have never worked for anyone else. I'll post a video shortly to respond in detail about your question.
Yes absolutely, I get full payment before releasing the files. This is a good point, I'll do a video on it.

Glad to hear it helped you. Dealing with knowing how much to charge for design work can be the toughest thing to deal with. Thanks again for your kind comments, I'm glad this is helping.
