Check out the 2010 Tachyon XC or 2011 Tachyon XC HD guncams. They are between $100 and $200 (depending on if you get the HD or not) with the gun mount. The HD is water proof to 100 feet, no need for special housings. It's perfect for this application.

If people got smart, they'd put these on any of their guns and use it (if gun hits don't count) and an item to look into the room before entering. I need to try this. Just use the screen to look around the corner, awesome!

What about recoil? Doesn't that have some impact on the lens, or do those fittings eliminate that? I'm working on attaching a camcorder to a rifle stock, with the focus through the scope....about 3.5 to 4" away.
I tried mounting a camcorder to the left side of an AR15, but the combination of noise and recoil just about crashed the hard drive on the camera.

Hi mine doesnt have any recoil, its a precharged air rifle but thats ineresting to know what happens when they get to much shock, I wondered if it would damage the hard drive!

Over time does the weight of the camera affect the scope?

No it has no effect on the scope.
