David Perron's post-game interview with Fox Sports Midwest host Jim Hayes. San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton was given a 5-minute major, game misconduct, and an eventual 2 game suspension for an illegal hit to the head on Perron in the second period.

@TheRecoveryRoom just because a player is not expecting a hit doesnt mean its illegal?! Its called having ur head up (the number one rule in hockey)...joe didnt purposely hit perrons jaw/head...its cuz of the height difference...also, perron should know to never look straight backwards for a pass otherwise u will get lined up and crushed which is wat happened...its not really a blindside since in was straight on, not from the side, it just looks bad because perron is looking straight back...bt

Perron is still on the IR and will be for some time cause of Thornton's hit. Joe was playing like a bitch the whole game. After serving two in the sin bin for boarding, he jumps out of box and cheap shots Perron. Like it or not, blindside hits to the head are illegal in today's NHL. Joe deserved the game misconduct and the suspension...

Joe came out of the box and sized him up and took a cheap shot. Its always a cheap shot when you come out of the box and hit someone because they are never expecting it.
