@oliva77 Hey! I was just on the official Bass website and they do still make some of thier shoes in Maine, if you go the mens shoes under the Mark McNairy section, the Gilford loafer and Ocean Drive states in the description they are made in Maine, so maybe you will be able to get a pair made there still also. Ta!

@oliva77 I think it does lose a bit of something when it moves like that, I mean look at the ad, it's all telling us one thing about the craftsmanship, when it is in actuality a complete lie in terms of the way it is constructed. I am sure that image means a lot to Bass so they still are selling the loafer like it actually crafted by a cobbler like this. I actually believed the ad was representing the way the shoes are actually made when I watched it. I wonder if there is any truth to it?

@oliva77 Have you seen the 75th special editions? Very nice indeed. The blue color is cool, but I think I would stick with the oxblood though. I think it would be sweet if Doc Marten did collaboration, the Doc Martin Adrian is a tasselled loafer and combined with Bass it could be a fab UK mod/prep look. Or perhaps a Fred Perry x Bass Weejun collaboration, with accented laurel wreath logo on the loafer would also be class. Thanks for the interesting info. Ta!

@FlorrieDugger To my surprise Bass does sell a tassel Weejun in 5E. GH Bass owner PVH closed the Maine plant in 1998 and shipped production to Puerto Rico, then closed that plant and moved to a cheaper country. Quality is relative, there is no reason a factory in China can't make great shoes- I just don't think they will. I bought Chinese hiking boots from wide shoes.com and I very much doubt they'll last as long as the LL Bean Hunting Shoes (made in Maine) I bought a month later.

@oliva77 You can get them to fit width sizes now. Or maybe you could get a small pair of mens perhaps, I don't think they would look bad. When did the stop making them in Maine? and so where are they made now? and isn't the quality still top notch regardless?
