@webstertelescopes Incredible. I bet you can see the trapezium stars of M42 nicely separated in that!

Thank you!

Is it not possible to get a simple bathroom 3X concave shaving mirror, about 10 inches in diameter, and coat it with aluminium? I understand why optical mirrors cost so much...since they are hand made...but why can't they be manufactured on a large scale?

A C28 telescope costs $18,000

@WatchmenDrManhattan
Steve Kennedy is the optician who makes our mirrors 22" and larger. He has more experience than anyone figuring large optics.

I am really proud of the gentleman with the 28" Dobsonian. This is a true Laviethan, almost approaching Professional Astronomer Category at 36" government Lick Observatory. A 28" Primary Parabolic is the largest I have witnessed in the "Amateur Astronomer Telescope category after the lower 20" RX-400 Meade Schmidt Cassegrain Newtonian combinations which cost more for Astro-Photography, but 28" is truly HUGE by Amateur Astronomy Standards!!!!

Take a look at our 40" scopes also on our forum of our website.
Youtube won't let us directly link, but go to the General Telescope Discussion, and look for the 40" pictures.
