well, i'm Vietnamese too and i also happened to be major in History....

i can tell u right now with 100% certainty that Vietnamese people ARE NOT descended from the Mongol!

we were never way up there in the North, look at a map to see the distance from Mongolia to Vietnam.

however Vietnam did share some interesting relationship with Mongolia or more specific the Mongol Yuan Dynasty of China. We repelled their invasions three times!
