  • 0:50 Why do you need an handle?

are you walking around with your mixer when your mixing?

i put mine on my desk and it stays there...

  • @DylanRedMusic no but the VLZ have a ridge under the edge which means one handed carry rather than two - its a nice touch

I like this equipment from Mackie. It has done everything I ever required it to do and it has sounded super clean in the process of doing so.I did run into an issue where the firewire card died 2 times. The first time was after using it for 1 month. Mackie replaced the board both times ...

  • Supergood review. Just got mine, and love that I have 8 channels going into Logic. Also using the cool mute bus to send signals to my Kaoss pad and sampler. Worth noting that after replacing my old interface that this does not include MIDI. This mixer next to a FaderPort for automation and control works wonders.

  • @sonicstate Thanks for the great review - would you tell me the Firewire 400 to 800 adaptor you are using? I am only able to record on channel five using my Oynx Firewire 1620i mixer.

  • This is a great review video - and I have seen plenty. Good crisp video footage when you zoomed in up close (I was watching @ 720p), well explained specs of the mixer, some good first hand experience about it's practical usage (btw what Firewire cable was it, that eventually worked well with the mixer?). Well done.

  • Do I need a separate Firewire card for my PC to use this?

  • @itsguitarmanrourke

you can connect an interface or another onyxi, so you can have more inputs for example, but i believe it is not yet available, the drivers do not allow this yet.

  • Awesome video/review. I just found myself in a home-studio bind where I was borrowing a Presonus Firebox from a friend and sold my Mackie VLZ1202 mixer 10 years ago without finding an adequate replacement since then. I have also recently moved from a PC to a Mac about 2 years ago and had to leave my copy of Pro Tools M-powered 8 with the PC because of the Delta 1010LT I/O inside it. Talk about hitting three birds with one stone.... I love birds ;)
