This is my 11 year old nephew playing "tamburello", a characteristic percussion instrument from Calabria. He's pretty good, isn't he? Check how he changes the beat and plays upbeat! He also does a hard "thumb trick". Great, uh? :-)

  • Great playing--he's fun to watch and makes it look easy! He is right in time with the accordions. What are all the extra tambourines doing on the table--are they for sale?

  • Exactly. They are for sale. This video has been shot in a mountain location called GAMBARIE, around 40km away from Reggio Calabria. There are some small street markets there where you can buy typical regional instruments like TAMBURELLI and also local food specialities. Let me know if you're interested in purchasing anything! :-)

    P.S.

My nephew Federico says thanks for your appreciation.

  • bello il manifesto sul cassonetto...

  • Io a quel ragazzo lo conosco !

  • Yes great...:) In the meantime your nephew must be 14yo and his voice might have changed ?

Could he also sing as "my" Toelzers when he was in that age ?

  • Love it!!!

  • belli sti tamburelli

  • SIETE BRAVISSIMI!

  • W la nostra tradizione

  • I've been trying to find an authentic tamburello for a small group that I'm in. My tambourine is fine, but I want the real thing! How could I buy one? Or find other street percussion instruments?

  • Brilliant! Now it's clear where the Irish took the bodhran from.

  • Thanks for the information!

Mi sa che mi devo fare un giretto a Gambiare ora che sono in Calabria. E' da giorni che cerco un tamburello e non so dove trovarlo.

Cosi' me lo porto in America!

    Ps. Bravo Federico!!!

  • dolce e bravo il mio bimbo...:):):)
