The Congaree is our 57th national park and the newest in the Eastern USA. Formerly the Congaree Swamp National Monument, it is technically not a swamp but an old growth forested floodplain. A hike on the 2.4 mile boardwalk and a canoe trip on Cedar Creek are shown in the video with voiceover explaining the area's flora and history.

  • Spirobulldog: I was there in March. The ranger staff is wonderful to work with. Give them a call for specific info. I also recommend the free canoe trip they offer.

  • I am kind of a National Park Freak and have been to most of them. This one, I have not yet visited. Did you shoot this vid in Feb or Mar? I am trying to decide on when the best time would be to visit. I don't know if to plan to come during a flood or not. I usually really "do" the parks, meaning raft the Grand Canyon, Go rappelling in Utah parks, etc. Staying there 2 or 3 days in the back country might even be a possiblity for me. Thanks for any insight.
