Exactly sir! In America you are free to excell or be mediocre depending upon your work ethic and desire. There are no guarantees of success, but at least you are free to try.
Yes, thank you. I am a socialist... but apparently so is America since they signed the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights which among many other things encourage countries "to make education free at all levels" - and at the very least accessible without discriminating against people.
But I guess like any other international mandate, the U.S. doesn't adhere - like peace.
What's truly concerning is being in college, feeling this way, and doing nothing about it. No matter how much sense this makes, no matter how many times I do the math, I can't shake the cultural meme that I need a diploma... not necessarily to do what I want to do in life, but as a safety net. A $120,000 safety net that's not all that reliable these days.
This is absolutely brilliant, though. Should be shown to every kid considering a university education. Kudos.
I've been out of college for over 2 years and this is exactly how I feel. I was so excited about going to college, graduating, and making something of myself. Now I question whether it was a good idea at all. Now I get to pay the cost of college back for the next 18 years of my life. btw, I went to a state college.
Sadly, this video has a whole lot of truth in it. Its a vicious cycle- want a good job nowadays? You need a really good college education. Get a really good college education, and you'll have to work a bad job to pay the damn bills off.
