Spinal: Vomit Roll Procedure.

Video shows how lifeguards should deal with a non-breathing, spinal-injured patient who vomits. Note that the patient has already had the chest strap removed and AED pads attached.

Key Points:
* Head Blocks must be removed prior to roll
* Chest and/or lower straps need not be re-fastened prior to roll
* Breathing reassessment should be done due to "sign of life"

  • his hips fell off the board... just sayin. could have damaged his spine...

  • Why remove the head blocks once they are already on? Would it not be better to keep the pt as secure as possible and minimize having to re-do steps?
