10 Shkurti, 10th February - Part 3

The film "10 shkurti" or "10th February" tells the story of a demonstration held on 10
February 2007 in Prishtina in which 2 young men, Arben Xheladini and
Mon Balaj were shot and killed by UN police. The demonstration was
organised by the non-violent Movement for Self Determination, calling
for the right to self-determination, and opposing the imposition of a
UN negotiated plan for Kosova, the Ahtisaari Plan. Three other
demonstrators were very seriously injured, and over 80 other people
treated in hospital for injuries sustained by the 12 year out of date
rubber bullets which the UN police fired that day. An internal UN
investigation concluded that the use of rubber bullets had been
entirely unnecessary, and that neither of the young men who were
killed were doing anything to threaten the lives or security of the
police. On the basis of the bullets used, it was determined that a
Romanian police unit was responsible, however they were allowed to
leave Kosova without prosecution. As the UN is immune, no one either
in the police who shot that day, or those higher up the chain of
command who issued orders, has been held to account. If you want to
