If you're lactose intolerant, soy or other non-dairy milks may be your best friend. But achieving a nice microfoam on them can be very difficult. We recently received samples of soy, rice and hemp milk from Pacific Natural Foods because they have formulated a Barista Series of soy milks designed to work well under the steam wand and we wanted to try them out. Watch as Gail steams the three milks to see how they perform.

  • Hello Ladies. Great video as usual. Where do you buy the Barista Series Hemp Milk. Your website doesn't seem to have it, nor can I find it on the company (Pacific) website.

  • @mrjfritchy I'm not sure; we used to sell the soy milk but discontinued it due to poor sales. I would contact Pacific Natural Foods and see if they have a retailer in your area that you can buy direct from - Kat

  • Thanks for this video I've been making myself crazy trying to find an alternative. The Hemp milk looks thick.

  • @romancewriter Yeah, it definitely had nice body to it - Kat

  • We have Bonsoy here in Australia which is in many opinions the best soy milk for making coffee with... it's about twice the price as the rest though!

  • @CL0SeY Yeech! Well thanks for the recommendation, I'll pass it along to any Australians I hear from :) - Kat

  • @SeattleCoffeeGear - It works really well and it's a lot more healthy for you than Soy milk. In my testing, it seemed to foam up about the same as whole milk does. I also put a little bit of coffee mate (Italian sweet creme) in for flavor. Usually 25% coffee mate and 75% almond milk does the trick :-) Love your videos - keep up the good work!

  • @n8yrn ha! we don't mess around ;O - Kat

  • @ray5961 No! I will have to test it out. - Kat

  • @EnigmaC4 I think that if you can drink dairy milk, why not? It doesn't agree with me (I prefer soy) so this is a good option, I think. - Kat
