  • @BelfNelfLuv By the way, calling someone 'faggot' on a private message and boasting about your amazing musical knowledge does nothing to improve one's view on either your musical knowledge or plainly your humanity. You started calling me a retard, which I am not, and ended calling me a faggot, which I am, and a very proud one, mister expert. We won't hold any further discussion so don't bother. Please.

  • @amatorynumber "You started calling me a retard, which I am not, and ended calling me a faggot, which I am, and a very proud one, mister expert..."

...I think I love you, a little bit.

  • The words themselves differ considerably from Schubert's 'Lindenbaum,' but the sentiment I guess could be considered to be similar....

  • I agree that the tessitura here is a bit low for Mr. Bostridge, who has a thrillingly pure upper register.

  • @Taenyr Male altos/countertenors tend to keep it in F major, although there are many who believe it's more historically accurate to transpose the key down a half-step, since concert tuning came a few centuries after this musical era :)

  • @amatorynumber Not sure I love you (well, maybe a little), but I certainly respect and admire you! Also a faggot, and also very proud, and moreover I'm a countertenor who sings this recit. and aria an octave higher than the splendid Mr. Bostridge. It's an beautiful, simple, glorious work!

  • @Spanglefeather Those lyrics are pretty different in meaning than these I think.

  • Bostridge sings similar words in Schubert's "Lindenbaum"

  • Steady, fluent, and elegant.

  • @amatorynumber Actually, you meant E4. Also, F major is the original key...what you say is true, though: generally sopranos are the only singers who don't transpose it up or down.
