The Apple Tree Stands and Waits

This song and video were written, performed, and produced by Smitty West to support landmine action. He became active in mine action when he accidentally walked into a mine field in Lebanon near the village where his grandfather was born. Smitty was looking for the wonderful apple trees that his grandfather told him about in boyhood stories.

From the minefield, Smitty vowed that if he survived, he would help Lebanon recover from the years of conflict that prevented his grandfather's return, by supporting the efforts to demine the country and provide humanitarian relief for landmine survivors.
