@1tsMeRenee Nah it's all good. I'm interested if you get that info. Yeah I was stationed there 03-07. Was in Iraq for a year in 05. So technically was at Irwin for 3 years. I hate the desert now, I hate sand. lol I hated That area, 32 miles from Irwin to Barstow for Wal-Mart, another 30-35 miles for the mall or a nice restaurant. Only good thing was it was only about 2 hrs to Vegas.
@1tsMeRenee What are you talking about? Just army talk to make it seem not as bad as it is? I never said anything of the such. I just said they shut the road down so the turtle can cross by itself. I was there for four years. I remember the roads getting shut down for turtles. I saw the fences going up for the turtles. If they moved any of them I had no idea and can't comment on that . When did they supposedly move them?
@1tsMeRenee If a turtle is crossing Ft. Irwin road, they will shut the road down until it crosses by itself. Now there are fences in place to protect them.
I used to be stationed there back in 91 to 95...damn I feel old. I was in 87th combat engineers and it was changed over to 58th or 57th engineers right before I left. I miss that place. Def had fun out in the field...HOO-AH!!!
amen to that. I was with A 1/63 from '88 to '90 as my first duty station. The first six months were fun but then spending almost 280 days in the field a year kind of wore on ya. Not to mention we weren't on our "real" tanks that much. Got tired of the crappy little Sheridans and missed those M1's. At least we looked different from everyone else in the Army at the time with our black berets with red stars and soviet rank insignia on our shoulder boards.
