When New York Times columnist David Brooks declared that the recent election spelled the end of conservatism, SA decided to point out how the rejection of Bush Republicanism was actually the rejection of men like David Brooks.

  • Always on the money. Good work my friend.

  • I want to say that I really appreciate your commentary on politics. Your commentary is dead on with how I feel with many issues. Glad to see others voted for Chuck Baldwin

  • David Brooks is a conservative who brought liberalism to the Bush's administration 9.4 trillion did not happen in thin air ....Now we have Obama taking it to another level NOTHING CHANGES IN D.C.

  • brooks is a rich jewish neo con /open border PUNK...iamthewitness comm

  • we can't afford to police the world, we can't affort the welfare or warfare state, ron paul is correct, we must change soon or die - frankly, we will die - too many ignorant people voting

  • To elaborate on progressive vs. conservative, it's easy to for progressives to label conservatives as wanting to "take a step backward" and to equate that with something ill-desired or bad. But sometimes going back is good if where you've gone is not. Sometimes going forward is bad if where you're headed can only be worse than where you are. "Change" sounds good on its own when things are going to Hell, but just any change without any elaboration could be the last thing you need.

  • Conservatism simply means to keep something as it is (or in this case, to return it to as it was). If your focus is on returning to a constitutional, limited government that emphasizes freedom and independence, like Paul, then you are in fact BOTH a conservative and a libertarian. The former representing the direction of the change and the latter referring to what you're changing to. Progressive and conservative, like change, have no meaning until you understand the axis on which they operate.

  • Paul is a REAL conservative

  • lol omg so funny

  • he is a constitutionalist!

    What is a conservative?

  • Except for his views on immigration and possibly abortion Ron Paul is a libertarian, not a conservative.

  • Says you, hillbillybumboy! Go fuck yourself!
