Academic language has become a hot topic in secondary education. Teachers and administrators recognize that students must be able to understand and use the languages of academic disciplines to explain, debate, and persuade. For more information on academic language, visit www.principals.org/PL0211 to read "Academic Language in the Secondary Classroom," the Instructional Leader column in the February 2011 issue of Principal Leadership magazine.
