  • DaftChemist:

    also thanks for the interest!

  • Did you make that?

  • Yeah, in December (I think) of 2007. I made a second at some point with the aim of getting to also act as a platform (so you could walk on it), but that was never fully completed, so maybe that'll be the third time around?

  • Awesome. It's like something out of the movies with all the gadgets in peoples' homes...except it's real. Where is this may I ask? Is it your house, or a studio, or...where?

  • It was in UBS (Universal Building Supply--they handle a great deal of scaffolding in NYC, but reside in Red Hook NY). Bard College, no more than 3 miles away, rents the space from them. They have some cool stuff every year in April and May (senior shows). Check it out

And yeah, I think film is really important. Particularly the early silent films with Buster Keaton & Harold Lloyd... they just have a good sense of dry humor and do really interesting things with misleading props and environments.

  • Oh, ok. I'm right near there, in Hyde Park, so I'll have to check it out. Sounds cool. What sort of stuff do seniors do there? Is it like art-oriented, or science, or...I don't know what I would classify this as...revolving walls of awesomeness?

  • It's arts. There all always really crazy things going on there (Alison Wilder would be another name worth youtubing... she has a piece up called the "Gradient Machine"). One year two guys made a carousel (also on youtube!), another year someone made a giant I-don't-know-what... a big architectural piece that she lived in for a week before the show's opening.

  • The follow-up exhibition is called Untitled (Liability Suit).

  • Thanks! I really need to make some abridged versions that are about a minute each, but (1) I just don't believe in too much documentation... because well, I don't like to miss a moment, I guess (2) I don't have the software that is required to edit them anymore.

  • That's like.....magic! Around and around it goes. 4 minutes of it too!!!!!
