Franklin Park Reading Series - Michael Kimball

MICHAEL KIMBALL is the author of four books, including Dear Everybody (which The Believer calls "a curatorial masterpiece") and, most recently, Us (which Time Out Chicago calls "a simply gorgeous and astonishing book"). His work has been on NPR's All Things Considered and in Vice, as well as The Guardian, Bomb, and New York Tyrant. His work has been translated into a dozen languages and he is also responsible for Michael Kimball Writes Your Life Story (on a postcard), the 510 Readings series in Baltimore, the documentary 60 Writers/60 Places, and the conceptual pseudonym Andy Devine. His new novel, Big Ray, will be published by Bloomsbury in Fall 2012.

Our monthly readings happen every Second Monday at the Franklin Park Bar and Beer Garden in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. We feature emerging and established fiction writers, memoirists, poets, storytellers, and comedians (and the occasional musician). Whenever possible, we draw from the local talent pool. And we love to showcase a wide range of voices, reflecting the diversity of the Crown Heights community.

Franklin Park, our venue, is a true neighborhood bar, where oldtimers and newbies kick back in a leafy courtyard and two indoor areas.

The series has been recommended by the New York Times, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, Time Out, the Village Voice, New York Press, The Brooklyn Paper, and other publications. The L Magazine gave the Franklin Park Reading Series a 2011 Brooklyn Bar Award for "best readings."
