Some VIsta and DirectX11 Info in respose to techkid4473's Video on Vista and DirectX 11. After installing Vista SP2 and running a small script refered to by the demo's in the latest August 2009 DirectX SDK, my dxdiag now reports that it is running DirectX 11. What does this mean? Not sure yet. As far as I am concerned at the moment, it's just a trick. I can access some of the DirectX demos in HAL mode, but alot of them have to still run in REF. I hope this is simply because the drivers working with DirectX11 are still in BETA, and when DirectX11 is finnished I will have access. But I have a pestimistic hunch that the Geforce 9800GT cannot handle all of the DirectX11 features.

  • is ati radeon 3100 work with dx11? it says dx11 in dxdiag and i did not use any hacks or anything i used the microsoft download page but a different download than this and geuss what? i downloaded XNA version 4.0 and before that it said dx10 and right after i install it is changes to dx11 in dxdiag does this really improve speed?

  • @realflow100 I doubt the HD 3100 has full DirectX 11 support. It supports 10.1 for sure though. what it probably supports is an early version of Compute Shader which would be enough for it to say the DirectX version is 11, but unless you're a programmer means really nothing. A speed up (if any) would be because of more up to date DirectX 10 drivers, but because it thinks directx 11 is present.

  • well jason how do u get it

  • @aceman434 & TeenageTragedyx I got to it by googling "DirectX SDK 2010". This was back in February. By now, the June is out.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you your going to need your windows copy to be genuine, or it will probably block you. If that is not the issue, then I do not know what can cause problems with the install.

As for the DX11 hack, I'm not sure. It's been a while since I've downloaded that and I no longer have any links to that. Sorry.

  • where can you download directX?

  • @TeenageTragedyx Easiest way would be to google DirectX SDK or DirectX Redist, and if you know the month and year, that too i.e. DirectX SDK April 2010. You can also find it navigating the microsoft site.

  • @XxMASTEROFSWAGGERxX win 7 or vista and atleast a 460gtx or a 4 series nvidia card, also 560ti is good, 2 460gtx better than 1 560ti

  • @jviper2004 it's much faster with directx11 when i install it even though it doesn't support it? when i play crysis on low the FPS goes from 10-20 FPS on dx10 to 20-35FPS on dx11 all on lowest settings so....... is that good or bad?

  • @jviper2004 unfortunatley when i go the the microsoft page it doesnt let me download it.. as in i click download and it says ERROR. This game i am trying to work.. has a plugin problem.

  • ive got win 7, gtx 260 graphics card and my dxdiag reports directx 11 : )
