  • Brown Dog lives!

  • could this treasure please just live forever! I try so hard to get some friends to try his books but they just don't get it. reading jim is just such an experience. thanks for the post!!!

  • Harrison is great. Soulful, massively intelligent, erudite, he can write about Nature, sex, food and Eastern philosophy in one paragraph and it all makes sense. A warm, brilliant writer.

  • The only LITERARY fiction writer still alive. I Say fuck a book just b/c it's on the New York Sellers List- FUCK IT ! To hell with John Grisham, Nora Roberts, Tom Clancy, Daniele Steel, Clive Cussler , Dean Koontz etc. Those writers are COMMERCIAL- NOT LITERARY WRITERS !!! If you don't understand the pysche of Tristan then you'll never now the difference between literary and commercial writing. Mainly, the literary books being wrote today are nonfiction- history, art, philosophy etc.

  • Dalva was one of the worst books I've ever read ...

  • Try some of his early short stories like Hills Like White Elephants or Indian Camp. You'll be pleasantly surprised. In later years Hem became a parody of himself.

  • Jimmy turned me on to cilantro in a small Yooper village in the late 70's and I have listened to many words leave his mouth over the years.

  • Jim...Sos un maestro!! Estoy leyendo la trilogía Leyendas de Otoño....y después de la película Leyendas de Pasión..sos el descubrimiento más precioso que he tenido en los últimos tiempos...

  • True North... What an author, What an experience for me, as a young men, I grew up with his shadow behind me, full of strenght, of philosophy from Natural Writing, of poetry. Since i've discovered Jim, I love the american litterature even if I'm a conditionned young french with all those famous writers who made France a great nation in the history of litterature.

JIm is great. Merci from Paris.

  • think Legends was written earlier..i read it in Esq sometime in the 80's...became a massive fan and read everything i could find...was at Elaine's one nite w/ a gang of people & who should come ambling in to join our party but Jim, i almost choked...he was flattered that a young, attractive woman knew who he was and we became buds & exchanged letters for years...even got drunk w/ him one nite @ the Lone Star...not my usual MO just adore his writing even tho i can't stand hemmingway...go figure
