Hurricane Michelle - Nassau, Bahamas - November 5, 2001

Hurricane Michelle moved over the Northwestern Bahamas on the morning and afternoon of November 5, 2001. After making landfall in Cuba as a Category Four, the weakened storm moved just south of Nassau with maximum sustained winds of 90-95mph and gusts to 110-115mph and a minimum central pressure of 973mb (28.73in).

We got married in Naussa during this hurricane. We got married on the Sat. at 1pm, and the storm hit at 3. Lotsa memories. If rain is good luck...then I think we are set! LOL

No, Michelle was not Week. Hurricane Michelle was the 13th named storm and one of the strongest hurricanes of the 2001 Atlantic hurricane season (Cat.4 - 140 mph ca. 230 km/h).

Nov, 2 it hit Cuba. And I and a friend were in Varadero (Cuba :) ) It was not really funny. One part of the hotel had to be evacuated. Was my first hurricane and I hope my last one.

Wow-- that is much better footage than I expected from this one. Looked like an awesome hurricane-- still with a good, solid backside, despite the weakening over Cuba. Great stuff!

Michelle was not a weak storm. although it was a cat 1 it had wind gust up to catagory 2 strength, it was reported that in nassau, bahamas there was a wind gust up to 100mph. the winds in michelle were substain at 75mph thats why it was a catagory 1 storm but the wind gust were far beyond catagory 1 i have proof of it.

i remember this hurricane well

i was 6 years old getting ready 4 skool wen my mommy told me we were in a hurricane. nassau was so flooded there were fishes swimming in the water lol. but the damage was far worse than Hurricane Andrew and Floyd. Also incase people dont know this, during a hurricane all power "island / nation-wide" is to but turned off.
