Street Ansatsuken: Ryu vs Kenshiro

Ansatsuken vs. Hokuto Shin Ken

Stage: Fiery sands ruins (red earth)

Character analysis:

Kenshiro is one of those GG like, ultra free combo characters. He can and will pull long and damaging combos from any hit he lands and can attack safely without any risk for failing attacks since most of them have little recovery and start up delay and can still be chained into another attack. He pretty much can keep you block stunned for a while that way, but also he can make fast jump in alternated with low kicks which can make turtling dangerous sometimes.

Strategy:

His attacks are faster than Ryu's, so most of Ryu's own attacks can be easily overriden by Kenshiro's. Ryu has a disadvantage over him because of the recovery time of some moves, so the best way to deal with this is using the Shoryuken or parry-counter when he tries to start a combo, however it is kinda tricky since doing this with Kenshiro's attacks requires more timing and he has some big punishment in case you screw up. His high combos are a good opportunity for sweeps and thankfully, either his clsn or hit states makes the tatsumaki senpuu kyaku hit twice on him, dealing extra damage and he can also get hit by a Shinkuu Hadouken cancelled from a fierce Shoryuken.

WTF the other guy just did a 99 combo on ryu and did like one damage, the ryu did a simple combo and took away about half his health.

@RhinoSea Since you pay so much attention to the lifebars, then why don't you point out that Kenshiro HEALS himself AUTOMATICALLY?

Also, it's called a Shin Shoryuken. It's supposed to deal roughly 50% lifebar damage.

@frost183 So? It's still broken as hell considering how much the power bar fills up with his attacks and the fact that the super also does damage besides healing. Examples of actually balanced healing supers in fighting games are Elena and Kensou, since they are vulnerable while healing (not automatic) and the super does that, JUST HEALING, not healing and dealing hits at the same time.

I believe if Kenshiro ever fought Ryu, I think it would end in a draw. Kenshiro has no reason to kill Ryu in a fight and would most likely fight him using non-lethal moves. If it were a fight to the death, though, Ryu wouldn't stand a chance.

By right, Kenshiro should lose the first round, then completely dominate the second round because he now knows Ryu's entire moveset. Then in the third round and final round, Kenshiro dominates and then makes Ryu appreciate life and teaches him the path of righteousness. Ryu then kills himself. Lol.
