@dweezlep0p Well no it was either Warren De la Rue or James Bowman Lindsay in 1840 and 1835 respectively. Nikola Tesla's achievement was to make alternating current the standard for national electricity distribution

@NoCheeseAndNoSocks so fucking true

bullshit thomas edison did not invent the lightbulb stupid thats a documented fact
he just perfected it

Sir Humphrey Davy demonstrated a glowing filament inside a glass envelope - that is pretty much a light bulb - but it only glowed cherry red, not bright enough to be useful. He had shown the way... but it was many years before various people perfected the techniques of evacuating & sealing the tube, finding suitable filaments, removing the residual oxygen etc. Like many inventions - it took a lot of people over many years to get it perfected - then along comes one guy & takes all the credit! ;-)

yes eddison was sued over the light bulb patent and lost his US patent over the light bulb too, and was discredited of the invention.

We are at a time in history 100 years down the track where the excitement of Henry Ford and his Motor Car, Alexander Graham Bell, Guglielmo Marconi, Thomas Edison and his wonderful inventions & others that paved the development of the 20th Century has been reinstalled into the hearts and minds of those engaged in the development of technology passing into the 21st Century.

Wrong he just made a spark that emitted some light, far from a light bulb as we know it. Nikola tesla did indeed invent the light bulb, and MANY things that were credited to others.
-
Actually it was invented by Sir Humphry Davy in the year 1800, that's 56 years before Tesla was born.
