"The lake of fire" is not to be taken literally. Do you also believe that in Jesus' second coming he will LITERALLY come flying on clouds? They're metaphors with deep spiritual meaning. Reading the Bible with a close mind will only lead us to dead ends. Hell is spiritual disspation or diminishment, and since it;'s not a physical torment it can't be interpreted as a literal etenral torture.
I don't see how universalism is a bad thing. The early(original) Christians were universalists, so?
I want some of you fundies to explain this to me once and for all. What's so abhorrent and "blasphemous" about such an eye opening story that happens to GLORIFY God and the Christian doctrine at every turn.
If it's the fact that God chooses to appear in a human form to deliver his message, then I suggest you pick on somebody else and find something better to do.
"Sheesh", you apparently don't understand the heresy of modalism, universalism etc. You might study some apologetics. Harold O.J. Brown's book on Heresies would be a good place to start.
I do study apologestics...The intellectually engaging parts, mind you such as philosophy, histroical methodology, cosmology, etc.; not in which way such and such interpretation of the NT is blasphemous, and how I can point fingers at other FELLOW CHRISTIANS. ( "Judge not lest ye' not be judged?").
A book expounding on Christian love and forgivness is not deviant. If you truely suggest that then you're also denying fundamental Christian truths. He never suggests in the book that we engage...
... in idolatry. God takes a human form. It does not make it anymore idolatrous than Envisioning Jesus in a physical form. Actually many muslims claim we are heretics for making such claims, yet we reject their accusations. When an author uses literary devices to get a message across you guys flip out.
Read the message and stop clinging to these insignificant details. I feel like we're in the reformation or some period of the middle ages.
I get so frustrated with all the criticism of this book and of our brother who wrote it. Most of believ that CS Lewis revealed great truths in the Narnia stories, but do not imagine that he wanted us to believe that Jesus was a literal Lion, who would leave us for years at a time! This is a NOVEL but one which shows us that God is intimately involved in our pain and wants to help us through. I thank God that He still inspires His church through His living Holy Spirit. It is a pointer to His Word

I mean God almighty! Sheesh.

I usually find this kind of behavior with YT atheists.
Close mindedness will get us nowhere as Christians or as a race.
