This video accidentally ruined a very chilling scene in the new Sherlock Holmes film. Moriarty starts to sing the proper version of the trout song whilst doing something horrible to Holmes and immediately 'Wie Schone Unser Neasden' popped into my head and I started chuckling!

What a little masterpiece! Thank you!

@falconoilcompany awesome, that's where I heard this too :D It's so catchy!

Wllie Rushton is badly missed - this is just so funny. He was one of those people who only had to come on air to make you smile. John Wells too - all gone far too soon.
-
Willie Rushton is THE most criminally underrated and under-remembered genius there is.

I recall a version Willie did of this on a BBC2 satirical show. It had a line (not on this version) about Timothy White's & Taylors, where I used to go to buy me rubber goods!
Anybody out there with this particular version?

Absolutely love it. Brilliant lyrics - the wonderful Willie at his best.

At last. I heard this first in the Metroland Sir John Betjemen Video. I love it. Great Post thanks vinylhell

Love the version of "The Trout"..not heard that before...the sax playing sounds suspiciously like Rodney Slater of the The Bonzos...does anyone know who the musos were? (The Ron Watford Sound??!)
That was awesome! :)

Ha Ha Ha. You certainly have some rare tracks on here. I am expecting someone to say "Mornington Crescent"
