The Porcelain Veneers Process The first step in the smile makeover process with IPS Empress® porcelain veneers is for Dr. Bourgeois to slightly reduce the size of the teeth to be treated by gently shaving them down. Because IPS Empress® veneers are crafted from ultra-thin porcelain, only the very minimum of tooth surface needs to be reduced, unlike with other veneers that may require more tooth reduction. Dr. Bourgeois will next make a mold of the patients mouth, which will be sent to the IPS Empress® laboratory and used to fabricate customized veneers. The patient will then return to Dr. Bourgeois Salem, New Hampshire practice to have his or her veneers bonded into place, and he or she will leave with a truly dazzling new smile!
