There are few things more important than the future of children in our incredible and unique community. We realize you share this commitment to the youth of New Orleans and invite you to join us to celebrate some of their many accomplishments.

For the past 49 years Young Audiences of Louisiana (YA) has worked tirelessly to provide quality enriching educational experiences to all students in our state. We have changed the landscape of arts education in our culturally rich and vibrant city.

On Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 Young Audiences of Louisiana will host our second annual Winter Spotlight at 7:00 PM at the Ashé Cultural Center. Over 150 students from local 21st Century Community Learning Centers afterschool programs have been selected to perform. The one-night event will spotlight the dance and band initiatives at five of Young Audiences programs, for which we have become well known. Highlights will include the band from Martin Behrman Academy of Creative Arts and Sciences, the O. Perry Walker College and Career Preparatory Academy jazz band and choir, ballet and African dance and drumming from the students at William J. Fischer Accelerated Academy, Woodmere Elementary, and Joseph A. Craig Elementary, and our new tap dancing program at Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts sponsored by the Dizzy Feet Foundation.

Young Audiences of Louisiana was founded in 1962 to expose local children to chamber music. Through decades of experience, we have adapted and evolved to serve the ever-changing needs of students in our community. Today we employ over 220 local artists who reach over 200,000 students in Louisiana through performances, residencies, and extended learning programs. In our afterschool and summer programs alone we serve over 2,000 students free-of-charge in the greater New Orleans area.

We invite you to join us for this special evening. This is a chance to show your commitment to the future generations of our city, and allow them to show you what they are capable of when given the opportunity.
