Since I heard the sound of Jean Michel Jarre's laser harp, i'd like to play it myself. I tried to create the sound on another synth, but now with the clear layout of the SH-201 I think I got pretty close! The key is to have 2 oscilators synched with one oscilator tuned higher than the other and use the pitch envelope to create the tipical sound!

  • Question: Kay, that was amazing first of all, secondly,

how did you store that sick violin patch?

    Editor software?

    or off Roland's website?

  • @TheSynthNation

    Tnx!

You can select the upper or lower key to create a sound. See the manual for instructions since the lack of characters I can write here. The sounds are stored together just using the synth stand alone.

  • Ok...I got the Synth1, what's the best way to achieve that laser harp sound, like default patch, settings?

  • @alphazoom

Just start with a default patch and use the instructions in this tutorial. The basics are the same.

    Good luck!

  • Just Google and download it. Vst is a standard, so it's compatible!

  • Of Course! To get Chorus on the 201 you simply turn up the FX to MAx, & the Time to 0. And then move it a Fraction for a slight delay! Genius!

What does "Holding" the AMP button do, opposed to simply pushing it to the ON mode & THEN moving the Knob?

Also, I can't seem to find any Tutorials of the SH201 Software/USB Modelling. Why is that? Is it just Crap or sumit?!!

  • @therealKINDLE

Do you have a manual? Your questions are answered right there. You can download it from Roland.

The software is really great and works as a VST with the SH-201 as a soundsource. You can access more parameters. I was really stunned by the amount of parameters you can edit!

  • Great Patch

  • very good very good amazing i would like to buy a roland sh201, so i would like to know some about this amazing synthesizer, i like jean michel jarre and im looking for new sounds like this, can you tell me some features or your expierence with this synthesizer, and recommend me to buy it?

  • You've pretty much got the rest of the lick at your finger tips....

Jean Michels music sounds pretty complex, but once you learn it, it's pretty easy... you have the nine notes, it's just running them in reverse for the rest of the lick, ending in the C.....so from the second three, run then in reverse, then a note below the last of the set, and so on, til you hit the last three, then it's G,F,C... Enjoy... I am !! :)

  • OKE.. nice sound :) Nice Solina btw.

  • hey man thanks!

  • Merci pour cette démo, j'ai suivi vos différents réglages et y suis parvenu aussi. Mis en mémoire sur mon SH maintenant ;) Merci encore pour ce tutoriel

  • Great version of a classic synth sound!
