In Greek and Roman mythology, Apollo (in Greek, Ἀπόλλων—Apóllōn or Ἀπέλλων—Apellōn), is one of the most important and many-sided of the Olympian deities. The ideal of the kouros (a beardless youth), Apollo has been variously recognized as a god of light and the sun; truth and prophecy; archery; medicine and healing; music, poetry, and the arts; and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and has a twin sister, the chaste huntress Artemis. Apollo is known in Greek-influenced Etruscan mythology as Apulu. In Roman mythology he is known as Apollo.

  • Strange tho that in the original texts you dont find anything about homosexuality, also not in Apollo and Yakinthos, the ancient texts are always talking about Friendship. You disgusting freaks wont rewrite the Greek mythology, create your own gay myths if you like them so much, and stop distorting ours.

  • They did not think it' disgusting '. It was common practice in Greek and Roman culture for Older men to have 'relations' with younger men -they saw it as 'friendship'

  • Hyacinth, the young son of the King of Sparta, beautiful like the very gods of Mount Olympus, was beloved of Apollo, shooter of arrows. The god often came down to the shores of the Eurotas River, leaving his shrine in Delphi unattended, to spend time with his young friend and delight in boyish pleasures. Tired of his music and his long bow, Apollo found relief in rustic pastimes. He would take Hyacinth hunting through the woods and glades on the mountain sides, or they would practice gymnastics,

  • Love for young men

Apollo loved Hymenaeus 2 and this distraction gave Hermes a chance to steal his brother's cattle. He also loved Hyacinthus 1, but him the god involuntarily killed with the cast of a quoit, and in the place where his blood had stained the grass there sprang a flower.-You will find quotes everywhere

Hyacinth, Spartan prince. Zephyr, god of wind also loved him, was jealous, and killed him (blew the discus Hyacinth trained with against him, hit his head) Apollo, as he does all his slain lovers, turned him into a flower, the hyacinth.

Um Yeah all greeks were bisexual. it was expected of them to take an older male lover to teach them how to be warriors, about honor, and bravery, etc. Then when they grew their beards, they could take wives. The ancient world not just the greeks, didn't have hateful ideas towards homosexuality before the catholic church came to power in 300 ad. so all your indoctrination makes you gasp at knowledge that was shrugged off quite easily before the church's brainwashing

  • @kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk58

That's alright, I'm a major in mythologies so I'm certain in my knowledge. Helios was a titan, as was Oceanus before Poseidon. The Olympians defeated the titans. Apollo was the god of the sun. however often times the Greeks called Apollo Helios as his predecessor because a common name for the sun was helios. But Helios the original was noty worshipped as god of the sun. ;)

  • @tarshil2020 IM NOT TRYING TO PUT U DOWN BUT APOLLO IS THE GOD OF LIGHT HELIOS IS THE SUN GOD (sry i was in all caps ust to lazy to fix)

  • I now hate that faggot

  • @evie22ful

He wasn't. He was bisexual along with a few others. Dionysus is another common God who Queer Friendly.

  • Wat was the name of the prince he fell in love with?

  • I so did not know apollo was gay OMG!

  • @JustAudio2008 That's disingenuous. While early Roman culture was indeed bisexual any sex was regarded a display of superiority. Women & 'submissive' men where inherently inferior because of the physical position they took in sex. Superbus was overthrown mainly because he insisted on displaying his superiority over the nobility in exactly this way. As for the Greeks, while it is fair to say the Athenians or Thebans regarded bisexuality as normal and cannot make this statement about all Greeks.
