  • I want to get 2 of these subs, should I get a ported or sealed box?

  • if I were u I would get a box like mine, sealed, u get more bass out of the subs, and if it were a ported box it wouldnt sound as clear, so Id get a sealed box

  • Are these still loud in a sealed box? I always thought ported was louder. I need to know quick so I can buy the box.

  • well it all depends, cuz I got 2 seperate amps, one running the subs, and one running the mids and highs, so theres just bass coming out of the subs, but for these particular speakers, u should get a SEALED cabinet, they are meant and perform at their best with a sealed box, thats also wut it says on the offcial Rockford Fosgate website, so my suggestion is GET A SEALED BOX

  • if you turn your box around you should get better bass response. bass waves have a higher wavelength (lower frequency) which means they need more room to build up. if you face them towards the rear you will get better bass response, deeper sound on the low notes, and harder hitting on the kick.

i was thinking about getting the p-1's but i got a better deal on some Alpine E-types which sound great in my 03 eclipse hatch rockford 300-1 amp 426 watts rms. I love it. What kind of car is this?

  • actually it doesnt matter if you have 1 amp or 100 amps ported box's are for deep sound competition bass the kind that hurts your chest best for rap and regae!!! sealed box's are for punchy bass like that of a bass drum in a band best for classical and rock and roll!!

  • rockford fosgate is rly good name you retard lol

  • these subs suck only like 200rms no way in hell u running 2000 watts I put a 600 watt mtx elite series mono class d that's rated 725rms and only had the gain at 25% and blew the voice coil in less then 30min of playing them!

  • The Rockford Fosgate p1s4's are not all that bad. Ive been pushing mine with 500 watts mono and they keep up without a problem. I used them to fill in for my Hertz ES 300's while I buy some new ones... but the Rockfords handle the 500 watts without a problem.. but are not as loud as the Hertz es 300's

  • @freebirdjoe2 I know this is a late reply, but, I just came across this video, these speakers are 150 rms, and u should get an amp pushing only 120 rms, with bass boast. Why, because, for the past ten years these are only subs I own until 2 years ago I got some JBL GT5 - 12.

  • @ChrisBeBallin There is always just bass coming from subs, simple fuck. Ported is prefered for most subwoofers. With a ported box it is louder and with good subs it still can be very clear. Dont say things that just false and dumb. Really sealed boxs are tighter and punchy, while ported is boomy, and loud.

  • ey i thought that each p1 sub was 300 watts each

how did you hook up a 200 watt amp

    wouldnt it blow your speakers?

  • @ChrisBeBallin these aight on a 2000w amp?

  • Is a 2000w to much power fee these subs? What is the best wattage of amps to get?

  • i thought the p1's were 300w max?

  • @ChrisBeBallin the difference between sealed and ported is sealed you make get more of a "punch" out of it, but the response is pretty much the same.. yes these subs should be in a sealed box. its all prefered sound you want.. a ported box will lead to a more "deeper" bass response because you can tuned the port to a specific hz so that the subs can respond better. honestly, it doesnt matter if its sealed or ported. just the cubic feet that the sub "requires" needs to be met for the best sound..

  • no way there pushing 2000watts but for p1's they sound pretty damn good! btw i'm running 2 p3 12's on 1000rms check them out
