From a legal standpoint (I'm studying to be a lawyer), they have not done anything illegal and the law has no business reinforcing what morality should be, especially if it causes no harm. If Woody had adopted Soon-Yi or lived with them in the house all the time, then I would agree with you. Each case must be a question of fact and I can see no reason why the two should not be together given the facts.
