took my new 2009 nissan frontier to the DEALER for it's first "free" oil and filter change. and, yeah, I might've GUESSED: even for "free" it was a HUGE MISTAKE, and definitely *NOT* worth it. cost me MORE in time and efforts than it would've had I drug myself under the truck and did it right the 1st time *myself*....

the oil-change freak's at the local nissan stealership managed to splatter oil all over the bottom side of the truck, everywhere, slobberings that eventually caused oil stains on my driveway, and a HUGE mess under the truck. those clowns just managed to splatter filth everywhere that'd just continue to gather crud and dirt buildup before becoming huge hard "sludgeballs" of caked-on, oil-soaked dirtballs. but, HEY! if you "like" that sort of thing, I suggest you, too, bring your car to YOUR local nissan dealer for your first "free" oil change...

I kind of LIKE my cars to stay clean, yeah, even underneath, *especially* when they're brand NEW cars with LESS than 3200 miles on 'em so far. the dealers "oil change monkeys" made such a MESS it took me two hours to clean it up. looked like I'd driven through a rainstorm of OIL SLICKS on the bottom of the truck when I got home.

never again, folks, free or NOT. that'll be the LAST time this dealer (or ANY dealership) sees MY truck in there...

not only did the dealer-clowns make a mess, but the truck has a few major factory engineering oversights. for example:

the oil filter on my 2009 Nissan Frontier is SO poorly located that in practical terms, removing the oil filter first requires the removal of nearly 20 bolts (holding on two lower pans) so you can even -access- the oil filter...that is, *unless* you have an arm with the strength of Hercules, *or* your arm has four wrists in it, all four of those wrists "conveniently located" between your elbow and hand on one arm. if you HAVE (one of those fairly rare) "four wristbanger" type arms, you might want to also consider contacting guiness book of world records....

last car I owned, bought brand new, and I never *ever* took it to the stealership for ANYTHING, eventually selling it when it had just over a hundred-thousand miles on it. yeah, I did *all* my own maint on that thing, top to bottom, inside and out. after 15 years, it was cleaner than this one is after spending ONE day at the dealer....

yeah, and they're supposedly "professionals" - sheesh, what a drift has occurred in words over the years..

  • Sorry, I took off my skid plate too. Six bolts, using a cordless drill (18 volt Craftsman) took all of two minutes. Using my hand, loosened the oil filter and allowed oil to fall into my oil collector pan. Put in a new filter after filling filter with new oil. Using an old torque wrench, I removed the drain plug. Then filled the engine with oil, tested for leaks. Replaced skid plate and finished.

  • What are you a retard, it takes me less then 60 seconds to take off and replace my oil filter. I bragged to all my mechanic co workers how easy the frontier is. OMG do you have weak baby arms? No panels need removing, nothing

  • your a baby,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol

  • I have this truck and have changed the oil 5 times myself.

    1. buy the oil filter cap wrench and the filter can be removed with a 3/8" ratchet through the access hole

    2. Use a plastic or paper plate, cut to fit, bent in a half-round, to guide the oil from the filter out the access hole to a drain pan. A little spray of simple green or brake cleaner will remove whatever little residue left.

    3. I never remove all the panels you have removed. Never.

    4. I have no drips or mess when I'm finished.

  • You should drink foreign beer and drive American, instead of the other way around..

  • When they made them in Japan they came with rubberized coating on frame and subsections today built in USA they come naked,
