  • I honestly hate to have to do something like this, as I know this is really interesting... but I'm looking for one of his python animations that was a mock advertisement for "pictures of people with lives more interesting than yours" and can't seem to find it anywhere.. I'm sure I'm not quite referencing it right.

  • @sirstrongbad It's an inconvenient reminder that to get famous you have to start of by doing a shitload of work. That sketch sounds like a needle in a haystack, it could be in any episode.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I saw it repeated one Saturday morning in the early 80s and it was the most inspiring thing I've ever seen. I still think about those pram top shapes fighting whenever I see the "Oh, what a lovely little..." cartoon.

Gilliam is a true genius. And Bob Godfrey's a legend.

  • Absolutely AWESOME!

  • I never really appreciated how much effort he put into the animations, must have took ages!

  • You've all just been 15 minutes in the mind of a genius-- go kick your feet up for a bit, now, and absorb.

  • @JustDexterShow They're photocopied on high-gloss paper. Gilliam xeroxed the photos he'd use for the animations.

  • I love listening to Americans using British-isms.

  • @sirstrongbad i think its in a first series monty python episode

  • He SHOULD make an animated film.

  • Thanks for posting. One thing that struck me was how cool it is seeing his animations without the usual Flying Circus audience laughing, coughing, etc. The aforementioned hand animation at 11:20 benefits from the ambiance of hearing it without those things, similar to how his work can be appreciated in the Python feature films.

  • It is interesting to me how his technique of 'cut-out' animation (much) later becomes so easy to produce with Flash. In retrospect, much of Terry Gilliam's animations here look like they were made with Flash.
