See the reaction French gets when a French President gives a speech in the UK or US.. or any person speaks to an audience in French ~ it's so chic sounding & commands respect & is the international language of diplomacy & the second most spoken language by English speakers.

15,000 words in the English vocabulary comes from chic French. It's a chic langauge which turns heads & commands respect.

@tomsega wait a minute man, with all due respect I have never ever seen "british bashing" in France, whereas in the UK the Sun always finds an excuse for blaming french, whatever the cause may be.

Je suis Anglais et un travailliste aussi, mais je deteste son accent francais. Oui, je n'suis pas couramment en francais, mais clairement ici, je comprend Tony Blair avec difficulté. Fixez-la Tone'! ;)

@Floodlezoot The basic French Population is Celtic but there was surely a general adoption of Latin before 400 AD but adopted in different ways. Then all the "barbarians" came in, all speaking related languages but not the same Burgundians, Vandals, Goths, Franks of course etc were all Germans you realise. And later Normans--Danes. And always Alsace.So it was diverse from the beginning I think. Process created other actual languages like Provencal and Occitan. Fascinating. And kudos to Blair.

@wwwonderful An invasion involves taking over the governance of a country/region. Fleeing from your own respective shit hole to find a country that has the good grace to welcome you in and give you sanctuary is not an invasion. Islam is a religion I'd like to point out as well. Shariah law is not practised here(nor is it likely to be in the foreseeable future). By your reckoning Ireland/Scotland would have been the greatest invasion force in the world.
