The Coronation of His Holiness Pius XII. This is a clip from an Italian film on his life preceeding the Papacy, hence the narration for the first half. Although the video quality is rather poor, it is still an interesting historical piece.

According to me, every pope of the 20th century was particularly needed for the times of his pontiff. They were, sort of, angels from the Lord, protectors of the Keys of Kingdom. So was Pius XII in the horrible times of WWII, so was John XXII at the moment of need for change, so was John Paul II in the times of falling communism, so is Benedict XVI now at the times of moral and religious relativism. Pius XII's 1939 coronation broke new grounds by being the first to be filmed and the first coronation to be broadcast live on radio. The ceremony, which lasted for six hours, was attended by leading dignitaries; these included the heir to the Italian throne, the Prince of Piedmont, former kings Ferdinand I of Bulgaria and Alfonso XIII of Spain, the Duke of Norfolk representing King George VI of the United Kingdom and the Irish Taoiseach Éamon de Valera, the last two being in white tie and tails.
