Uncle Jack - Spirit [California] - 1968 - "A POWERFUL psychedelic rocker." - Spirit (Sony)-1996.

NOTE: It's a colorful observation of a character that is told with a slightly acid-magnified fondness. The track also was a great vehicle for Randy California's progressive blend of hard rock multiple electric guitar overdubs.

The Original lineup on their first four albums (1968-1970):
Randy California: Lead guitar, some vocals.
Jay Ferguson: Lead vocals, percussion.
Mark Andes: Bass.
Ed Cassidy: Drums.
John Locke: Keyboards.

"Spirit's debut unveiled a band that seemed determine to out-eclecticize everybody else on the California psychedelic scene, with its melange of rock, jazz, blues, folk-rock, and even a bit of classical and Indian music. Teenaged Randy California immediately established a signature sound with his humming, sustain-heavy tone; middle-aged drummer Ed Cassidy gave the group unusual versatility; and the songs tackled unusual lyrical themes, like "Fresh Garbage" and "Mechanical World.""

An excellent guitar interlude (Randy California) and drum work by Ed Cassidy (Randy's step-father) who was voted the 2nd best drummer of all time.
