Judy Garland and Jack Carter impersonate Broadway and cinematographic stars in successful shows: Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton (Broadway show "Annie get your gun"), Mitzi Gaynor and Rossano Brazzi (movie "South Pacific"), Julie Andrews, Rex Harrison (Broadway show "My fair lady"). At the end they sing a medley from the Broadway show "Mr. Wonderful", casting Jack Carter and Sammy Davis Jr.

  • @OldHollywoodLove The surely are!

  • I think at the beginning of this, before judy and jack start doing all the numbers, she looks beautiful sitting opposite him!

she was gorgeous anyway, but she just looks beautiful!

  • @judyinjune You are right. Actually, I think she displays a touching beauty all the way through her show.

  • A wonderful musical medley that put Judy and Jack's singing and comedic talent on full display. Love it. Thanks for posting it !

  • @pal035s This is one of my favourite bits of her Show!

  • @defundthewar These are without doubt the best parts. I enjoy her stories very much - as much as her singing, that is always excellent (they only aren't so dramatically efficient when she dubbes them). Some guests have great solo numbers too - I love Donald O'Connor one, for instance. But although the Show isn't 100% great, I absolutely adore it.

  • @megchristie1 Her stories, told at her theatrical trunk, are pure Judy, whether accurate or not. Her tea for two banter, also, is Judy-speak. But whenever her lines, with guests or not, goes nowhere, and she is just dying up there, it is written for her.

  • @defundthewar I agree Jerry's parts are painful. Actually, he seems to me a boring guy who overacts to be funny (but is never able to). Judy is charming so she can get along with anything, even the poor jokes. I'm curious about something: how can you tell when the stuff is written by her or not?

  • The only good comedy on her show were Judy's own material- stories she liked to tell, and her comedic flair. The writing for her was, more times than not, just plain awful and/or unfunny. The critics were quick to pick up on that, and they were right. A lot of it, especially when Jerry Van Dyke was involved, is uncomfortable or painful to watch. When he was dropped, it was an improvement. Jack Carter was considered to be a regular, but he already had other work scheduled.
