  • I remember listening to the this when I was little. I always thought the original artist was saying "Grandma's Lysol". I'm glad I now have the record straight. I also came across this video looking for Grandma's Lye Soap. I am a soapmaker and now I'll always have this song playing in the back of my mind while I'm making soap. Hilarious! Thanks for the memories!

  • @ctay122 Good story… thanks for passing it along.

  • Lol, I found this video while trying to find out how to make lye soap. Fun tune. I'll have it stuck in my head when I'm making soap.

  • Well I'm not proud... I will take viewers any way I can get them.

  • and i will sing this while making my first batch of lye soap !!!! ;)

  • The version I remember: "Granny's lye soap cures coughs, colds, fits, farts and freckles".

  • I love Grandma's Lye SOAP. I even wash my hair with it! I assumed it would dry my hair out but it has never looked better....hmmm :O)

  • I remember when this song was popular in the early 50's, the radio station that played the top 40 songs on Saturday wouldn't play this song Just announced the name. Maybe because the original version was almost 6 minutes long.

  • When we were kids, we used to sing "granny's old lye soap" but I never knew why! We must have heard this somewhere, from someone, but I never knew there was a "real" song! Thanks!

  • If you live in Fortwayne Indiana, and your listening to this song, your breaking the law

  • i remember hearing this when i was a kid! thank you! bravo!

  • Its too scary for me! A "folk" song written after I was born.
